- Leaves purple/maroon, later green, pink and white edged.
- More than one selection apparently falls under this label. Jacobson (1996) states that this common clone is actually 'Purpurea Tricolor'.
- Origin:
- The leaves of the "true" 'Tricolor' are green and edged with pink in spring turning white in summer; that form originated in France before 1870 and is extremely rare. 'Rosemarginata' is similar or identical to 'Purple Tricolor'.
