Pinus strobus 'Merrimack' / Eastern White Pine
A very dende little slow growing globe. Although it is rated for zone 3 my experience is that almost all strobus burns in the winter and this plant is no exception. If it is protedted from direct sun during Feb.-March it does quite well in my zone 3a. It is a good contrasting green color against all other green confers. From mid summer through fall and winter the plant turns from green to lime green to green-gold. It gives outstanding contrast and color and does not outgrow its space. It is reported that it is a compact form that comparitivly falls between Horsford and nana in growth rate. All authorities rate it as a 'choice' plant.
